10 things we've learnt as coaster enthusiasts

We’ve been in the coaster enthusiast community for a while now and we’ve learnt a lot over the years. We wanted to share some of the things we’ve learnt with you here.

1. You don’t have to like the same rides as everyone else

Life would be incredibly boring if we all liked the same things. One of the best things about the enthusiast community is that we all have different opinions and like different rides. You don’t have to follow the crowd - like what you like and be true to your own opinions!

2. Your opinions will change over time

One things for sure, the more rides you experience the more your opinions will change. A few years ago our top ten lists looked very different to how they look now - and that’s okay. As our coaster count grows, our opinions evolve and change with time.

3. Arguing about opinions can be fun

Don’t get us wrong, there are times when heated debates can turn a bit nasty. But most of the time it’s really fun to have debates with other enthusiasts and put forward your own opinions. It’s important to remember that two things can be true at once. Your opinions are never going to be ‘right’ because everyone experiences rides differently and has different preferences. That’s what makes debates so interesting!

4. Building your credit count takes time

Once you’ve hit all the parks within driving distance of where you live, your options for bagging some new credits suddenly become very limited. You have to start planning more serious trips to parks in different countries which are much bigger investments than before. It might take a while to build up your credit count, but remember that all good things take time!

5. But it’s okay if you don’t want to count credits

For some of us it’s not all about quantity. Jumping on a kiddie coaster just to grab the credit might not be worth the embarressment for you - and that’s okay!

6. Expereincing new and different parks is a must

It’s really exciting to travel to new parks and see new places/cities along the way. Travelling is one of our favourite aspects of being a coaster enthusiast. Getting out to new parks also means you’ll be able to experience different rides from across the world. There’s so much out there to explore!

7. You will always have a never-ending list of rides you want to get on

No matter how much you travel, there will always be parks you want to get to in the future. There will also be parks you’re desparate to return to when new additions are added. It’s a never-ending list that just keeps growing!

8. It always pays to have a plan when visiting a park

We can’t imagine visiting a theme park without having some sort of plan for the day in place before we get there. We’re forever researching parks and asking for advice on which rides to get on first to avoid long queues. It may seem a bit extreme to plan out your day, but it really pays and also ensures you get on everything you want to get on.

9. Capturing your park visits on camera is a great way to preserve memories

We often vlog our theme park visits for the channel and take lots of pictures for instagram. It’s a great way to preserve memories for us to look back on - especially when we visit parks with groups of other enthusiasts. You don’t need to edit a full vlog of your day, but a few selfies here and there are a nice way to document your visits.

10. The best thing about the roller coaster community is the friends you make

It goes without saying that the people we’ve met through this hobby of ours have made being an enthusiast special. Some of our favourite ‘Coaster Bot’ memories are when we’ve spent days at parks with our enthusiast friends and got to meet people who watch our videos. This community is full of amazing people and we’re so happy to be a part of it.

We’d love to hear what you’ve learnt as a coaster enthusiast?
