improved rankings

We’ve enhanced our methodology to improve the ranking of lesser-ridden roller coasters. Dinoconda, Python in Bamboo Forest, and many other Asian rides will now consistently feature in Vote Coasters rankings.

The ranks of other rides have also improved due to this change, better reflecting their quality. DC Rivals Hypercoaster ranked #10 in 2023, up from #36 in 2022, just one below the well-renowned ride, the Voyage.

new for 2023

An impressive four new for 2023 rides debuted within the top 25 this year:

#13 Batman Gotham City Escape
#14 ArieForce One
#16 Toutatis
#24 Wildcat's Revenge

going down

Some rides have continued to fall in the rankings each year. In 2020, Lightning Rod ranked #3, before falling to #6 in 2021, #8 in 2022, and finally #19 in 2023.

El Toro’s rank has also decreased over time, from #4 in 2020 to #15 in Vote Coasters 2023.

newer rides are better

Close to 8% of the roller coasters ranked within the top 50 opened within the 2010s and 2020s. An impressive 4 new for 2023 roller coasters made the top 50!

GhostRider at Knott’s Berry Farm ranked as the oldest roller coaster in the top 50, opening in 1998. This was closely followed by Cedar Point’s Millennium Force, and Superman the Ride at Six Flags New England, which both opened in 2000.

As always, the more people that enter the poll, the better the results will be.

thank you

A huge thanks from all of us at coaster bot to everyone who took part in Vote Coasters in 2023, including those who shared the poll. A special thanks also goes to our supporters.

We’d also like to thank Jami for updating and improving the fantastic drag-and-drop ranking tool, and Andrew for keeping our roller coaster database up to date. Without those two (and all of you) the poll wouldn’t be what it is today!
