What’s our plan for 2021?

We like to start each year by setting out our plans for the year ahead (this year our plans are very rough for obvious reasons). Last year, we introduced the concept of giving each year a theme - an idea or aim which will help us improve specific aspects of our content. It was the year of the collaboration in 2020, which led us to create videos with a whole host of awesome theme park content creators.

In 2021, our theme is…

the year of insight!

But what does that actually mean? Most of our content is centred around explaining aspects of theme parks or roller coasters, some of which is concealed from everyday park goers. In 2021, we want to pull back the curtain and showcase parts of the theme park industry that are hidden from most. We hope to share the knowledge and expertise of those within the industry directly with our audience. This could be anything from us filming videos at theme parks (when it’s safe), or talking to various amusement manufacturers. The possibilities are endless!

Hopefully this won’t always be through videos. We also want to explore this theme through blog posts and our podcast, which are both great ways to share insight into the amusement industry. Through all our different content mediums, hopefully we’ll be able to share lots of insider knowledge with you all. Our favourite videos to make are the ones in which we have to learn a lot of new things about the industry. They are the pojects we are most excited to share with you.

If you have any ideas about the type of things you’d like to know about the industry, or people who might want to work with us to share their knowledge, please do let us know! Either leave a comment on this blog post, shoot us an email via the contact us page, or contact us via social media!

What will be new in 2021?

We make a lot of content; ‘Explained’ videos, vlogs, blogs and podcast episodes. There’s a lot to watch, read and listen to! In 2021 we’re going to try and blend some of those content mediums together, hopefully to show everyone there’s something different to enjoy from them all.

Speaking of vlogs, we’ve tried really hard to make “good” vlogs for a while now. Honestly, we’ve never really been happy with them. The vlogs never come out exactly as Harry wants them to, and they never seem to perform that well on YouTube, which is always a bit frustrating! So, in 2021 our vlogs will be changing. We’re going to start making them for ourselves and our friends as a way of looking back at the great times we’ve had together. They’ll likely be a little rough around the edges, more in the moment, and less professional. But hopefully we’ll have more fun making them and you’ll have more fun watching them!

It was also pretty hard to vlog in 2020 which wasn’t the easiest year for travel. We only managed to get to two theme parks once Covid-19 had hit! In 2021, we’re hoping to be able to get out more when it’s safe and experience more this year. We really want to visit new theme parks, both in the UK and further abroad. Hopefully we’ll get the chance to travel more this year and share our new experiences with you all (fingers crossed).

Like the vlogs, our videos this year also might feel a little bit different. We want to explore different types of videos, which may seem a little bit random at first! As always, they’ll continue to be explanatory and unique. We’ll also continue to maintain our schedule of uploading a video at least every two weeks too. We have a lot of topic ideas which tie into the ‘year of insight’ theme which might seem a little strange or random, but bear with me!

Finally, as 2020 was such a crazy year we ended up doing some things we didn’t expect to which opened us up to new content ideas. We painted a picture of a roller coaster, created a collaborative Planet Coaster theme park, and even held an 8-hour live stream for charity. The charity stream was definitely one of our highlights of last year. As a result, we’re definitely going to plan a similar live stream, perhaps even bigger (and less broken) than the one we held in 2020! If you have any ideas of what you’d like to see in a future charity stream, or as a weird random one-off video, please do let us know!

So that’s our plan for 2021. Here’s to hoping it’s a better, safer year for all of us. Whatever happens, we’ll be pushing ourselves to improve all of our content and create more videos we love this year.

Happy New Year!
